"Across Time" by Kathy Moore (Jazz Artist from Michigan(MI))

RadioIndy is pleased to present Kathy Moore with a GrIndie Award for their CD "Across Time"

"Across Time" brought to you by Kathy Moore will please your ears with an organic sound and beautiful vocals....with style. Kathy has one of those timeless voices. Very reminiscent of Karen Carpenter and of Joni Mitchell. Playful, but serene at the same time. The arrangements behind her vary nicely on this CD - Keeping to a folky, earth driven theme and inserting jazz, world and western feels. The musicianship and recording quality are both very high. "Blueberries" is a fun jazz number with playful vocals and a swinging jazz accompaniment. "Winter Sky" is an intimate piano/vocal piece that needs nothing more. "One Walk on the Beach" is tons of fun with a calming Island feel. If you enjoy folk or jazz music, or timeless female vocalists such as Joni Mitchell, you'll enjoy this CD.

"Saving the Day" by SweetJazz55 (Jazz Artist from Maryland(MD))

RadioIndy is pleased to present SweetJazz55 with a GrIndie Award for their CD "Saving the Day"

"Saving the Day" by SweetJazz55 can be best described as "Ambient Jazz." It features colorful and intriguing instrumental arrangements, lots of tricky bass lines and interesting synthesizer lines that take center stage on the tracks. There are many creative synthesizer sounds on this CD, adding to the color of the tracks. The track "Lizzart Hart" is quite adventuresome in the area of trickiness. Lots of sounds going on in this one. "XZERT" has that same quality with a nice flow. "The Set Up" mixes it up with airiness and consistency. All that said, this album has a relaxing quality to it. It's quite meditative. If you like Jazz Fusion, you will like this album.

"Smashing Preconceptions" by Stereo Volvo (Jazz Artist from Australia)

RadioIndy is pleased to present Stereo Volvo with a GrIndie Award for their CD "Smashing Preconceptions"

"Smashing Preconceptions" by Stereo Volvo is a Space-Dub instrumental album with a big arsenal. It combines Jazz, Afro -Jamaican, Dub, Ambient, Drum N' Bass and much more. It is well produced with tight beats, spacy sounds and very cool muted trumpet work. There is a constant mysticism to this album and it is floaty, but organic at the same time. Highlights include "Phoenix" (Wig-Out), which is a definite journey of a track with a grounded rhythm section and guitar and trumpet eerily talking to one another. "Gunya" is more up-tempo featuring the signature trumpet with a bowed-string sounding guitar coming at you. Pick this up if you like beats and ambience.
